Lancaster Stormers News Release

A strange season has continued into the second half.

Brandon Boggs was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, forcing home the winning run as the York Revolution dropped the Lancaster Barnstormers, 2-1, in the opener of a three-game series at Santander Stadium.

With the Barnstormers leading, 1-0, Pete Andrelczyk, who pitched a scoreless eighth remained in the game to start the ninth. Pinch hitter Telvin Nash grounded out to start the inning, and Andrelczyk had Eric Patterson down, 0-2.

That is when the game began to crumble. Patterson grounded a single up the middle, and Bryan Pounds followed with a game-tying double to left center. Andrelczyk (2-2) struck out Andres Perez for the second out of the inning but walked Nick Ferdinand to keep the inning alive.

Zach Jackson entered to face left-handed batting Yeicok Calderon, and York manager Mark Mason countered with pinch hitter Alfredo Patino. On the 2-0 pitch, Patino hit a ball on one hop back to the mound. Jackson threw to first for what appeared to be the final out of the inning. However, the ball had been ruled foul, keeping the inning alive. Patino worked out a walk to load the bags, and Boggs was hit by an 0-2 pitch to drive in Pounds with the game winner.

Joe Gardner and Logan Williamson each threw seven scoreless innings in the starting roles. Lancaster broke through in the top of the eighth. Wilson Batista doubled down the right field line with one out. After a ground out by Kevin Rivers, Mike McDade singled home the lead run with a line drive into left center.

Edward Paredes (1-0) struck out the side in the ninth to earn the win.

The Barnstormers send Nate Reed (1-4) to the mound on Saturday evening against right-hander Matt Neil (2-6). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:15.
