York Revolution News Release

The Revs started off the second half of the season in improbable fashion, beating the Barnstormers on a walk-off hit by pitch with the bases loaded after trailing 1-0 going into the ninth. It was a great way to start off the second half for the Revs after a forgettable first, as the crowd at Santander Stadium went into a frenzy as soon as Boggs was nailed on a ball that traveled too far inside from the arm of reliever Zach Jackson.

Logan Williamson got the start for the Revs fresh off his All-Star game appearance in Bridgeport and pitched extremely well, going seven strong innings while scattering five hits. In his final inning, Williamson ran into trouble with Barnstormers reaching first and third with only one out, but was able to escape the jam by coaxing a groundball double play from Anderson Feliz to keep the game scoreless at the time.

Williamson's counterpart, Barnstormers right-hander Joe Gardner was just as impressive, going seven innings, striking out five and only allowing three hits all night.

The Barnstormers broke through the scoreless tie in the eighth, as Lancaster first baseman Mike McDade singled off of Revs All-Star reliever Stephen Penney, moments after a questionable call by home plate umpire Bill Worthington denied Penney of a called third strike that would have ended the inning. The umpiring crew would find more controversy later in the game.

Lancaster manager Butch Hobson called on his closer Pete Andrelczyk for a six out save and he nearly got it, if not for the heroics of another Revs All-Star, Bryan Pounds. After Eric Patterson snuck a single through the infield to get on base with only one out in the ninth, Pounds ripped a double into the gap in left-center to score Patterson and knot the game up at one. After an Andres Perez strikeout and a Nick Ferdinand walk, Hobson went to the lefty Jackson to secure the final out of the frame. However, Revs manager Mark Mason countered with righty Alfredo Patino to bat for the left handed hitting Yeicok Calderon.

The inning seemingly came to an end when Patino chopped a ball off the plate for an easy putout, but Worthington and third base umpire Chris Carroll declared the ball foul, which angered Hobson who immediately stormed out of the Barnstormer dugout. With new life, Patino was able to draw a walk, loading the bases for right-fielder and All-Star Brandon Boggs.

After jumping ahead 0-2 in the count, Jackson plunked Boggs in the lower body, sending the Revs to a walk-off win in a game that was destined for extras.

The Revs look to make it two in a row as York righty Matt Neil (2-6, 4.81) takes on lefty Nate Reed (1-5, 3.68) on Ag and Farm Night presented by Apple Valley Creamery, where Rommie Lewis looks to defend his cow-milking title against the Barnstormers. There will also be post-game fireworks, presented by PA Lottery. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.

Notes: The win was the Revs' fourth walk-off win of the season. It is the 46th walk-off win in team history and first via hit-by-pitch. It is the second time in Revs history the Revs have opened a half with a walk-off victory, along with Opening Night in 2010. York improves to 9-7 in this year's War of the Roses Series. Edward Paredes (1-0) earned the win after striking out the side in the top of the ninth. Williamson has allowed just one earned run in 29.0 innings over his last four home starts. He has allowed just one earned run in 20.0 innings over three starts against the Barnstormers. It is the Revs' 10th comeback win of the season and first when trailing after eight innings.
