
Hale Wins Ninth Game as the Blue Crabs Take Game One

(Sugar Land, TX, July 10th 2015)---Southern Maryland won two games of the three game series over July fourth weekend, and out of the All-Star break, Southern Maryland took game one, defeating the Sugar Land Skeeters by the 6-0 final.
After banging out four hits last Sunday, Fred Lewis led things off with a triple in the top of the first. The next hitter Casey Stevenson ripped a double to the right field corner to score Lewis to make it 1-0. All-Star Zach Wilson was the next, and he drove a homerun over the left field wall to make it 3-0.
Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the fifth. With one out, Casey Stevenson lined a single to center. Two batters later, Daryle Ward advanced to first on a drop third strike. Gustavo Molina then came to the plate, and doubled to the left center field to score Stevenson and Ward to bring the Southern Maryland lead to 5-0. In the top of the seventh, Zach Wilson scored on a Daryle Ward single to bring the score to its' final of 6-0.
Southern Maryland has now combined for 28 hits the last two games against the Skeeters. The combination of Lewis, Stevenson, Wilson, Ward, and Molina went 10-23 with four RBIs. The other big story of the game was All-Star Jake Hale who won his league leading ninth game here tonight. Jake went seven inning, allowing just three hits, walking one, and striking out three.
Game two of the series will commence tomorrow. LHP Brian Burres (2-5, 3.97) will start for Southern Maryland, while RHP Sean Gallagher (1-6, 3.46) will throw for Sugar Land. The first pitch is set for 6:05 P.M. from Constellation Field.
