Portland, OR- The Tri-City Americans (4-8-1-0, 9 pts) fired 52 shots at the Portland Winterhawks (6-6-0-0, 12 pts) on Wednesday Night. Portland goaltender Adin Hill made 50 saves, helping the Winterhawks earn a 5-2 win over the Americans.

Tri-City got on the board first on the power play. Jordan Topping couldn't put home the first shot, but his second chance hit a Portland skate and into the goal for a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Portland tied the game as Jack Dougherty fired a shot that was deflected into the net by Rodrigo Abols, evening the score at one after the first period.

Portland took the lead early in the second, as Colton Veloso's shot from the point found twine for a 2-1 advantage. Shortly after Veloso, Dominic Turgeon skated into the zone and fired a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that lit the lamp to push the margin to 3-1. The Americans fought back, as Beau McCue fired a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle into the goal to cut the lead to 3-2 after two periods.

The Americans tried to get back into the game, with a few solid scoring chances early in the third to tie the score. But Portland took a two goal lead once again 14:55 into the third, as Keoni Texeira fired a shot from the point that found the back of the net for a 4-2 lead. Tri-City blasted Adin Hill with shots, but couldn't get anything past him in the third. Turgeon scored an empty net goal, his second of the night, to seal the win for Portland.

Tri-City extended its season high losing streak to four games and has lost four straight games on the road.

The Americans were 1-of-7 on the power play and recorded 12 penalty minutes. The Winterhawks couldn't score on any of its two power play chances and spent 22 minutes in the penalty box.
