High-Powered Offense Sends Blue over Knicks

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (2-1) defeated the Westchester Knicks (1-2), 130-114, on Saturday night.

After holding a double-digit lead for much of the first half, the Knicks trimmed the Blue's lead to just one point with over three minutes left in the third quarter. Oklahoma City responded with a 13-5 run to close the third and Westchester never got close again.

Kevin Hervey scored five points during the run and finished with a team-high 23 points off the bench, including a career-high five three-point baskets. He was one of seven in double figures for Oklahoma City.

"I thought the third quarter we kind of got back to what we were doing," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "It was a continuation of us really being in rhythm, making shots, and that's kind of the ebbs and flows of the game."

Oklahoma City was down by as many as six points in the first quarter but used a 12-0 run to take its first lead midway through the quarter. Nine Blue players scored in the opening frame, led by seven points apiece from two-way players Luguentz Dort and Devon Hall. The Blue led 42-29 after the first, tying a team record for points in the first quarter.

Dort finished with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, adding seven rebounds and two blocks, while Hall contributed 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Blue outrebounded the Knicks, 59-40, led by 13 rebounds from Hervey. Thunder assignment player Justin Patton grabbed eight rebounds to go with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and two blocks.

Westchester was led by 32 points from Andrew White III.

Oklahoma City's homestand continues on Tuesday, Nov. 19 versus the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at the Cox Convention Center.
