Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - Michael Hermosillo had a remarkable night at the plate, hitting for the cycle and a blasting a grand slam to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 13-9 comeback victory over the Fresno Grizzlies Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark.
In total, Hermosillo went 4-for-5 with six RBIs. The outfielder struck out in his first at bat, but singled in the third and hit a RBI triple in the fifth. Then with the bases loaded in the sixth inning Hermosillo took a 1-0 pitch from Fresno starter Cy Sneed over the left field wall to put the Bees up 10-7. In his final at bat Hermosillo put one in the left field gap and hustled into second to complete the eighth cycle in franchise history.
"I just tried to get a good pitch to hit," Hermosillo said of his grand slam. "Luckily I did and I made the most of it."
The Bees' leadoff batter, David Fletcher, also turned in a strong hitting performance, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, four runs scored and his third home run of the year. Jabari Blash blasted his PCL-best 10th homer of the season and Ryan Schimpf scored three times to lead the Bees offense. John Lamb got the start for the Bees and did not factor into the decision after four innings of one-run ball. Jake Jewell (1-1) picked up his first Triple-A win with two and one-third scoreless innings and Taylor Cole picked up a six out save to finish the game.
The series against Fresno will continue Wednesday night at 6:35 at Smith's Ballpark. Tickets are available at slbees.com.
