May 2, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
The Kansas City Royals announced a transaction on Wednesday that impacts the Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to this afternoon's matchup versus the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa.
Right-handed pitcher Kyle Lohse has been added to Omaha's roster from Extended Spring Training. Over 16 Major League seasons, the 39-year-old has compiled a 147-143 record and 4.40 ERA (1239 ER/2531.2 IP) with 1,615 strikeouts between the Minnesota Twins (2001-06), Cincinnati Reds (2006-07), Philadelphia Phillies (2007), St. Louis Cardinals (2008-12), Milwaukee Brewers (2013-15) and Texas Rangers (2016). He was also a member of the 2011 World Series Championship St. Louis Cardinals squad, and has pitched in the Postseason in six different years.
Lohse is anticipated to start this afternoon's contest in Des Moines. He was signed by the Royals as a minor league free agent on March 31, 2018. The right-hander was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 29th round of the 1996 MLB Draft out of Butte Community College in California.
As a result of this transaction, the Storm Chasers' active roster stands at 25, plus one on the Disabled List.
RHP Jen-Ho Tseng (0-4, 7.18) is expected to oppose Lohse for the Iowa Cubs this afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:08pm CT.
Omaha returns to Werner Park for an eight-game homestand on Friday, May 4. First pitch against the New Orleans Baby Cakes that evening is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
Tickets are still available for that game and all remaining Storm Chasers home dates in 2018, and may be purchased at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets as well as by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
