Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: The Aces look to bounce back after a tough offensive performance Tuesday night. Greg Gross will send 24-year-old right-hander Taylor Clarke to the bump to take on Walker Lockett and the El Paso Chi-huahuas. Reno enters today's game with a record of 8-18, and 1-5 against El Paso in 2018.

About Last Night: The Reno Aces dropped game two of the four-game series to the El Paso Chihuahuas tonight by a score of 7-1. Nevada Alum Braden Shipley got the start for manager Greg Gross, tossing five innings and striking out a season-high six. Offensively, the Aces were held in check by El Paso starter Kyle Lloyd, who took home his third victory of the season. El Paso scattered two runs in the first five innings of play but exploded in the sixth thanks to a Shane Peterson grand slam.

MV-Power: The reigning Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player, Chris-tian Walker, hit his first home run of the season with the Diamondbacks last night. Walker, pinch-hitting for Matt Koch, hit a ball into the Friday's Front Row patio seats in the fifth inning of Dodgers Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. The home run left the bat at 114.4 mph and was projected to travel 479 feet, per Statcast - tied for 3rd longest HR in Major League Baseball this year.

Hey, I'm Back: The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Silvino Bracho from Reno Monday and placed LHP Robbie Ray on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. Bracho, 25, picked up his first big league win last night. Bracho went 1.0 innings and added a strikeout to secure the victory. Four former Aces hit the Arizona mound last night - Matt Koch, Andrew Cha-fin, Silvino Bracho and Archie Bradley.

Right the Ship: Braden Shipley made his made his fifth start of the 2018 campaign tonight in El Paso. The right-hander entered tonight's contest following two consecutive multi-run outings against the River Cats and Chihuahuas. Unfortunately for the Reno ace, he picked up the loss after a five-inning, four-run performance. Through five starts in 2017, the Univer-sity of Nevada alum was 3-1 with an ERA of 4.18.

Mr. 300+: With a single in the 8th inning on Sunday, Jack Reinheimer became the fourth Aces player in franchise history to record 300 hits. Cole Gillespie (399) and Mike Jacobs (343) are the only players with more hits. Reinheimer finished with two hits last night, moving past Mike Freeman (301) for third place on the Aces all-time list at 302. Last season, Reinheimer finished the season with 134 hits. He's currently at 24 and needs 98 more (121 total) to set the franchise record.
