May 22, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

Early morning starts have not been favorable to the Hens this season as they fell 7-0 to Syracuse on Tuesday.

Syracuse got to starter Andy Oliver early, roughing him up for four runs in the second. Carlos Rivero singled in a run to give the Chiefs the lead, and Corey Brown padded it with a three-run shot for his third homer of the series.

Oliver threw 48 pitches through two innings, but he settled down and went 5.1 innings, allowing nine hits while striking out five and walking two.

The Chiefs had another big inning in the sixth, scoring three runs off four singles and four walks. Oliver was responsible for two of the runs, while the other was charged to recently added reliever Ryan Robowski.

The Hens were shutout for the first time this season after compiling just four hits, all singles. A Bryan Holaday single helped stretch his hitting streak to three games.

The Hens are off tomorrow before hitting the road for eight games starting with a four game set in Pawtucket. Adam Wilk is scheduled to pitch Thursday in the first game of the series with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes

The crowd of 10,530 helped the Hens sellout for the fourth game in a row.

The Hens are 0-3 in games starting before noon this season.

The Hens are now 4-16 on the year when their opponent scores first.
