Gwinnett Stripers News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves return home to Coolray Field for a 10-game homestand that will begin on Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, June 2. The G-Braves will be playing host to Rochester (May 24-27), Lehigh Valley (May 28-31) and Charlotte (June 1-2).
The G-Braves currently possess the two International League Players of the Week on their roster. Just this week G-Braves starter Todd Redmond was named the IL Pitcher of the Week and first baseman Ernesto Mejia was awarded the IL Batter of the Week. Be sure to catch both G-Braves in action during the coming days at Coolray Field.
Your first place G-Braves have been leading the IL South Division for most of the 2012 campaign. Currently, they have a stranglehold over the next closest team in the form of the Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate, the second place Charlotte Knights. The G-Braves and Knights are 4-4 against one another this year. Gwinnett lost their first three games on their present eight-game road trip, but grabbed the final game of the series against Buffalo. The G-Braves lost the season-series to Wally Backman's Bisons with a record of 2-6. Rochester and Gwinnett have split their season-series so far in 2012, with six remaining games between the two combatants.
