Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - Right-handed pitcher Cole DeVries today had his contract selected by the Minnesota Twins. In addition, outfielder Rene Tosoni has been transferred to Double-A New Britain and infielder Michael Hollimon has been reinstated from the 7-Day Disabled List.

DeVries takes the roster spot of righthander Jason Marquis, who was designated for assignment by the Twins. DeVries is the seventh Red Wing to get a promotion to the Twins this season, joining catcher Drew Butera, lefthander Scott Diamond, infielder Brian Dozier, outfielder Darin Mastroianni, outfielder Ben Revere, and righthander P.J. Walters. DeVries will be the second Red Wing to making his major league debut in 2012, joining Dozier.

DeVries went 1-4 with a 4.24 ERA in eight starts. He earned his first win Saturday vs. Gwinnett (Braves), allowing four runs on six hits in eight innings in Rochester's 6-4 triumph. It was the longest outing by a Red Wings pitcher this season. The 27-year-old was winless in his first seven starts, but had received just 10 runs of support in those games. DeVries walked just seven batters in his 46.2 innings of work overall, an average of 1.4 per nine innings. The Minnesota native was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2007.

Tosoni batted .167 with two doubles and five RBI in 21 games. The 25-year-old missed nearly a month of the season with a lacerated left ring finger, which he sustained just three games into the season. Tosoni, a left-handed hitter, established a career high with five hits yesterday vs. Gwinnett, becoming the first Red Wing to collect five hits in a game since Wilson Ramos on June 3, 2010 vs. Norfolk (Orioles).

Hollimon was placed on the 7-Day DL April 30 with a right elbow contusion and missed the last 22 games. The switch-hitter is batting .192 with two homers and two RBI in 17 games.
