June 24, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens' woes continued as they dropped their fifth straight with a 9-2 loss to Norfolk on Sunday night.

The Tides jumped out to a quick lead off with seven runs off starter Adam Wilk in the third. Wilk surrendered seven hits and threw the ball away on a putout attempt at first to allow Norfolk to take a seven-run advantage.

Tides starter Jason Berken held the Hens offense in check and surrendered just one run on three hits. Berken carried a no-hitter into the sixth before Cale Iorg led off with a single.

Rob Waite was solid in relief of Wilk, throwing 4.2 innings of four hit, two run ball. Waite surrendered a two-run homer to Bill Hall in the seventh to give Norfolk their 9-0 lead.

The first run for the Hens came off an Audy Ciriaco RBI single in the eighth. The Hens scored again in the ninth after Ryan Strieby singled to knock in Justin Henry.

The Hens will look to snap their losing streak and avoid a sweep tomorrow afternoon in the series finale. Game time is 12:05 p.m. and lefty Casey Crosby is set to take the hill for the Hens.

Game Notes

Adam Wilk's seven runs allowed were his most since allowing five against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 29th.

Justin Henry extended his hit streak to four with a double in the ninth.

The crowd of 9,423 was the 11th sellout at Fifth Third Field this season.
