Lexington Legends News Release

Two home runs by Robert Hefflinger accounted for all four Rome runs as the Braves defeated the Lexington Legends 4-3 Monday afternoon at Applebee's Park.

Hefflinger gave Rome a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first inning, his third home run of the season. The Legends tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Goebbert's two-out single scored Jose Altuve, who had walked and moved to second on an error by Hefflinger at first base on a ball hit by Aaron Bray.

Hefflinger's second homer came in the sixth inning with two men on base. After Kyle Rose singled and Todd Cunningham walked, Hefflinger sent a drive over the wall in left center field to give Rome a 4-1 lead.

Lexington's J.D. Martinez answered with a solo home run in the sixth, his 10th homer of the year.

The Legends cut the lead to one in the bottom of the ninth. Brian Kemp's two-out double drove in Jonathan Meyer, who had led off the inning with a single and moved to second on an infield out. Altuve lined out to center field to end the game.

Legends starter Brad Dydalewicz (0-2) worked seven innings and took the loss.

The Legends open a five-game series with the Hickory Crawdads Tuesday night in Hickory, North Carolina. Game time is 7 pm.
