Suns Fall in Series Finale Against Crawdads 2-0

The Hagerstown Suns (38-37, 2-3) battled hard but got beat by the Hickory Crawdads (43-32, 3-2) 2-0 at Municipal Stadium Monday night.

In the bottom of the fourth, Suns Steven Souza hit a triple on a line drive to left but it was not enough to score a run for Hagerstown.

Hickory started it off in the sixth as left fielder Joseph Bonadonna tripled to left. With Matthew West, batting, Suns pitcher Daniel Rosenbaum threw a wild pitch driving in Bonadonna putting the Crawdads on the board 1-0.

In the seventh after a pitching change by the Suns, Hickorys Travis Adair doubled on a line drive to right. Driving in Adair was another double to right by short stop Edwin Garcia putting the score 2-0 which ended up being the final.

Suns starting pitcher Daniel Rosenbaum (1-4) got the loss pitching six with four strikeouts letting up only one run. Kyle Morrison came in for the seventh with one strikeout and giving up one run. In the top of the ninth, Dean Weaver pitched with two strikeouts.

The starting pitcher for the Crawdads Matt Thompson (6-4) got the win pitching eight innings with nine strikeouts. With the save was Trevor Hurley pitching the ninth with one strikeout letting up no runs.

The Suns will now travel to Lakewood, NJ to take on the Phillies-affiliated Lakewood BlueClaws in a three-game series starting Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.

Hagerstown will return home on Sunday, July 4th with a 7:05 p.m. game against the West Virginia Power.
