Charleston RiverDogs News Release
Major League Baseball announced last week that former Charleston RiverDogs pitcher Hector Noesi and catcher Austin Romine will appear in the 12th Annual XM Futures Game as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday in Anaheim, Calif. on July 11.
Noesi, an Esperanza, Dominican Republic native, started five games for the RiverDogs in 2007 and appeared in 17 contests with the club in 2009, while starting 11 games. The 23-year-old prospect posted a 1-1 record and 4.50 ERA, surrendering 10 earned runs with 11 strikeouts in 2007. In his second stint with Charleston in 2009, the right-hander compiled a 3-4 record with a 2.38 ERA, with 28 earned runs and 78 K, while also registering a 27.1 innings scoreless streak.
The No. 24 prospect in the New York Yankees organization, according to Baseball America, Noesi is currently penning masterpieces for the Eastern League's Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the Yankees. The 6'2" moundman has started seven games for the Thunder thus far this season, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA, allowing 11 earned runs with 44 K in a total of 45.0 innings of work. Noesi will toe the rubber for the World team in the July 11 contest.
Romine, a Lake Forest, Calif. native, stood behind the plate for the RiverDogs during the 2008 campaign. The No. 2 prospect in the Yankees organization, per Baseball America, saw action in 105 games with Charleston, starting 55 at catcher and 50 at DH. A second round selection of the Yankees in the 2007 First Year Player Draft, Romine batted .300, with 66 runs, 24 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 49 RBI, in his lone season with the RiverDogs.
The 2009 Florida State League "Hitter of the Year" has appeared in 57 games this season with the Trenton Thunder, with 49 at catcher and eight at DH. The 6'1" prospect is currently batting .294, with 37 runs, five home runs and 39 RBI, and tied for the league lead with 20 doubles.

Charleston end their five-game series against their in-state rival Greenville Drive, a Boston Red Sox affiliate, Monday at 7:05 p.m. For ticket information, please contact the RiverDogs Box Office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647), or visit online at www.riverdogs.com.
