ABBOTSFORD BC - Keith Seabrook would score the game winner at 2:09 of overtime as the Abbotsford Heat would close out an exciting night of hockey, defeating the Chicago Wolves 4-2 in front of a charged up group of 4805 fans on Teddy Bear toss night.

The Abbotsford Heat came out on fire Friday night with 2 first period goals giving them a 2-0 lead. The Heat opened the scoring at 7:08 in to the first period, as John Rheault stole the puck at center and made a great play to dish it off to a surging Logan Macmillan charging in on a partial breakaway. MacMillan would snap a shot short side past Wolves net minder Peter Mannino bringing the rain of bears onto the ice from the Heat faithful. The Heat would double their lead at 9:57 of the first with Joe Piskula clearing the puck at the end of a penalty kill right on to the stick of Matt Pelech exiting the penalty box. Pelech would make a great move past Mannino on the breakaway to bring the crowd to their feet. Abbotsford would head into the second with a 2-0 lead.

The Chicago Wolves would close the gap to one at 2:41 of the second on the powerplay as Spencer Machacek would collect the loose puck at the side of the net and put it past a sprawled out Leland Irving to make the score 2-1. Abbotsford would respond at 5:26 of the second to regain their 2 goal lead as Greg Nemisz would steal the puck at center and break in off the far boards, ripping a shot far side top corner past Mannino to make it 3-1 Heat. Nemisz's 7th of the season and 3rd shorthanded goal of the campaign would give Abbotsford a 3-1 lead heading home.

The Chicago Wolves would once again close the lead to one early in the third as Nigel Dawes would collect the puck off the end boards and jam it in just off the skate of Leland Irving to make the score 3-2. Dawes would tie the game at 13:46 of the third with his second of the game after collecting a rebound in the slot to put it past Irving. The third period would end tied at three, sending the game in to overtime.

Jamie Hunt of the Wolves would take a costly slashing penalty at 2:09 of the overtime frame to give the Heat a rare overtime power play. Keith Seabrook would play hero, converting a T.J. Brodie pass through the Wolves goalie Peter Mannino.

The Abbotsford Heat will take on the Chicago Wolves once again Saturday night at the Abbotsford Sports and Entertainment Centre, puck drop at 7:00pm.
