The Suns drew first blood on Tuesday, with Alfredo Lopez drawing a two-out, bases loaded walk to plate the first run of the game. The Biscuits would tie it up at 1-1 in the next half inning with a two-out RBI double off the bat of Richie Shaffer.
The Suns would have the lead for good after Alfredo Lopez roped a two-run double to give the Suns a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Jacksonville went on to tack on one more run in the sixth and plated a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to complete their scoring on Tuesday.
After setting down the first 11 batters he faced, Andrew Heaney (W, 3-1) earned the win by allowing one earned run on three hits in six solid innings of work. The lefty finished with two walks and four strikeouts in Tuesday's contest. Grant Dayton worked two scoreless innings of relief, with Nick Wittgren finishing off the ballgame with a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation.
Dylan Floro (L, 2-3) took the loss for the Biscuits after allowing four runs (all earned) on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work.
Four Suns had multi-hit games in Tuesday's winning efforts, with Joe Benson and Alfredo Lopez finishing with three hits apiece, while Austin Nola and the birthday boy Alfredo Silverio (turned 27 on Tuesday) wound up with two knocks each.
Tuesday's ballgame was the first time Alfredo Lopez had driven in three or more runs since August 25, 2012, when he finished with 4 RBI on the road against the Montgomery Biscuits.
The Suns and Biscuits will be back at it on Wednesday at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Jacksonville sends out the right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-4, 4.99) for Wednesday's game three, while Montgomery will counter with unbeaten righty Jared Mortensen (3-0, 3.08).
