LHP James Gillheeney Promoted to AAA Tacoma

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster move that affects the Generals roster. LHP James Gillheeney has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma (postgame 5/5). No corresponding move has been made.

Promoted to AAA Tacoma:

Gillheeney, 26, returns to Triple-A Tacoma from Jackson. Gillheeney opened the 2014 season with the Rainiers making 3 starts going 1-2, with a 7.59 ERA (9 ER/10.2 IP). Gillheeney was promoted to Jackson on April 23rd and in 3 starts for Jackson was 1-0, with a 1.29 ERA (2 ER/14.0 IP). Gillheeney was removed from Monday night's game after 3.0 shutout innings on 3 hits, taking a no decision in Jackson's series opening loss to Huntsville, 2-0. In six starts combined between Jackson and Tacoma, he is 2-2, with a 4.01 ERA. Gillheeney will rejoin the Rainiers rotation. Gillheeney ranked 6th in franchise history with 39 career starts going 10-13, with a 4.37 ERA and has started games for Jackson in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. He was Seattle's 8th round draft pick in 2009 out of NC State and Johnston, RI.

The Generals roster stands at 23 active players with 10 pitchers, 13 position players and 3 on the disabled list.
