Portland Winterhawks News Release

The Portland Winter Hawks acquired the rights to 17 year old forward James Kerr (no relation to Ryan Kerr) from the Kelowna Rockets for a conditional 4th round bantam pick in 2009.

The condition is that the Rockets get the pick if Kerr plays for the Winter Hawks before the end of the 2007-08 season.

Kerr is currently playing for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the BCHL, a team that is owned and operated by the Okanagan Hockey School. He has 4-15-19 and 29 PIM's in 31 games. Kerr's Head Coach is his Dad, Alan Kerr, who played for the Seattle Breakers in the WHL.

Alan Kerr and Rich Kromm were teammates with the New York Islanders and also worked together at the Okanagan, with Kerr being the Vice President of the Hockey School.
