Hawel Selected in Round 1 by Hounds

With their 1st Round Selection (22nd overall) in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm, the Soo Greyhounds selected LIAM HAWEL from the Ottawa Valley Titans.

The 6.02, 152 lb centreman had 8 goals and 31 assists (49 points) in 25 regular season games during the 2014-15 season.

That capped off three consecutive 40+ point seasons for Hawel through the Ottaway Valley Minor Bantam to Minor Midget programs.

In 2013-14 he tied for the league scoring title.

SCOUTING REPORT:

Liam is a player with all kinds of upside and potential. He has good size and a very good skill set. Liam can beat defenders one-on-one. Whenever he has the puck on his stick he is very dangerous and has the ability to change a game. His posture allows him to be very good at all aspects of skating, speed, mobility, acceleration, laterally and agility. He has great balance and is not easily moved off of the puck. He handles the puck well, has good vision and moves the puck with authority and accuracy.
