Saginaw Spirit News Release

The Saginaw Spirit and 19 other OHL teams were looking to add to their stable of prospects with today's Priority Selection. The following are the Saginaw Spirit's selections in today's draft.

First round, 6th overall Brady Gilmour, Center, Quinte Red Devils GP 36 G 28 A 33 PTS 61

SCOUTING REPORT: Brady is skilled, tenacious centre that competes every game and has a high hockey IQ. He's a very good skater and makes his team go offensively. Brady is more of a pass first player and is probably the top playmaker in this age group. Brady always seems to be in the right spot at the right time, whether it's offensively or defensively. He has high-end skill level and sees the ice very well to create opportunities for himself and his linemates every shift. Also strong on the draws and good defensively. Second Round, 30th overall Robert Proner, Defense, Toronto Titans GP 32 G 2 A 5 PTS 7

SCOUTING REPORT: Robert is a big, tough and versatile defender that is very hard to play against. He has very good mobility for someone his size and closes gaps well to take away time and space with his mobility and active stick. He has a very heavy shot from the point that he gets on the net with regularity. Defensively, he is one of the hardest players in the age group to play against. He hits like a truck in the corners, never turning away from contact. He has good puck skills for a player of his size and makes a solid first pass. (Courtesy of the Ontario Hockey League)

Second Round, 38th overall Kirill Makismov, Left Wing, Toronto Jr. Canadiens GP 28 G 16 A 17 PTS 33

Third Round, 45th overall Brendan Bonello, Goaltender, Toronto Titans

SCOUTING REPORT: Brendan is one of the top goalies in this year's draft. He is a very good puck handling goalie with the ability to move the puck up ice very easily. He a big active goalie and moves around a lot in his net. He is very vocal - always talking to his teammates and helping them out with what they should do. He is a butterfly goalie that goes down often. With his 6.02 frame he still covers a lot of net. He has a good glove hand and quick reflexes and seems very composed in the net.
