
'Hats' Off To Cyclones In 3-1 Win at Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania - The Cincinnati Cyclones won their seventh road game in the last nine ventures away from U.S. Bank Arena in a 6-1 win at Johnstown on Friday night. Michael Cohen led the offensive for the Cyclones with a hat trick (three goals) and an assist.
The Cyclones scored twice in the opening period, as Paul Lynch fired a shot from the slot 2:47 into the contest for his first goal of the season. Michael Cohen and Ben McLeod had the assists on the score. With a delayed penalty coming to Johnstown at 11:13, Barret Ehgoetz collected his tenth goal of the campaign from Jimmy Kilptrick and Donny Grover. Cincinnati outshot the Chiefs, 10-4, in the first stanza.
Johnstown got on the board at the 6:27 mark when Wes Clark scored his second goal of the year on a penalty shot. But less than a minute and a half later, at 7:47, Michael Cohen netted his eighth score from Mark Van Guilder. Van Guilder, working the right side-threw a pass to the left post where Cohen was waiting. Johnstown won the shots battle, 12-6, in the period.
In the third period, Cincinnati scored three times to end the contest. Kilpatrick netted his twelfth goal at 2:48 of the stanza from Van Guilder. At 15:11, Cohen slammed home his second of the night from McLeod and Lynch and then completed his hat trick with his third of the night and tenth of the campaign at 18:52. Ben Gordon and McLeod handed out the helpers.
Cohen's hat trick was quickly noticed in the box score, but other Cyclones stepped up tonight as well. Ben McLeod chipped in three assists, Paul Lynch recorded a 'Gordie Howe Hat Trick' (goal, assist and fight) and Kyle Gajewski stopped 19 of 20 shots to pick up his sixth win of the season.
The Cyclones are now 15-13-5 on the season, while Johnstown is 21-10-2. The teams meet again on Saturday night at the Cambria County War Memorial at 7:05pm. That game will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5), as well as the club's website: www.cycloneshockey.com.
