
Cyclones Sign Forward Dustin Sproat

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones, announced today that they have signed forward Dustin Sproat. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Sproat, 27, was a free agent after Fresno (ECHL) folded on December 22. With the Falcons, the six-foot, 195 pound native of Red Deer, Alberta, played in 16 games and had a pair of goals and four assists for six points. The rookie was a three-time letterwinner at Princeton, playing in 92 games and collecting 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points with 62 penalty minutes. The 2004-05 season was Dustin's finest, netting 18 goals and collecting 17 assists for 35 points in 31 games.
Sproat also won a pair of prestigious awards at Princeton. As a freshman in 2002-03, he was the winner of the university's Hobey Baker Trophy, as the top freshman player there. In 2005-06, Dustin was named the winner of the Blackwell Trophy for his contributions on the ice, sportsmanship and influence on the team. A two-time ECAC All-Academic choice, he began his professional career in 2005-06 with Reading (ECHL) and saw action in 16 games, netting a goal and an assist for two points.
Sproat could be in uniform for the Cyclones tonight in the club's game at Johnstown at 7:35pm. That contest will be carried on MAX-FM (97.7 and 99.5), as well as through the club's website at: www.cycloneshockey.com.
Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 144. The Cyclones host the Wheeling Nailers on Tuesday, January 6 at 7:30pm. The Trenton Devils are in on January 9 and 10 for 7:30pm clashes both nights.
