Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - April 10, 2007 - Different night, but the same result at Knights Stadium Tuesday night, as the Charlotte Knights beat the Syracuse Chiefs 3-1-just like the previous night. The Knights (3-3) have won three straight after losing their first three games of the season to pull up to the .500 mark. Syracuse dropped to (3-3).

Heath Phillips (1-1, 4 SO, 3.86 ERA) picked up his first win of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings. Boone Logan (S, 1) got the save for the Knights. Dustin McGowan (0-1) took the loss despite a strong pitching performance striking out nine batters and only giving up one run in five innings of work.

Luis Terrero got things started for the Knights in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI double that brought home Ryan Sweeney to give Charlotte an early 1-0 lead. Sweeny hit a solo shot to left field in the 6th to make it 2-0. Andy Gonzalez hit a shot down the right field line to bring home Ernie Young in the 8th as insurance 3-0. Syracuse catcher Sal Fasano had a solo home run of his own in the top of the 9th to help the Chiefs avoid the shutout at 3-1.

The third game in the series will continue on Wednesday. RHP Geremi Gonzalez (1-0, 0.0 ERA) will start for the Chiefs, while RHP Charlie Haeger (0-1, 6.0 ERA) takes the mound for the Knights. Game time is 7:15 p.m.

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
