July 7, 2023 - Eastern League (EL)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
Despite great Akron defense and a late game rally, the Harrisburg Senators stormed back to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 3-2 in 10 innings on Friday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After Akron took the lead in the bottom of the eighth, the Senators rallied back in the top of the ninth. Back-to-back singles and a flyout put runners on the corners with two outs. Terone Harris III doubled off the wall in left center to tie the game and give Harrisburg momentum.
Mound Presence
Jack Leftwich was sharp in his first outing off the injured list. The right-hander allowed a one-single and two-out walk in the first, but then settled in to retire the next four in order to end his two scoreless innings of work. Hunter Stanley followed with six and third innings allowing two runs while striking out four. Jordan Jones allowed an unearned run on a double in the 10th, which gave Harrisburg the lead once again.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks finally cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth inning. Connor Kokx got the inning started with a double before coming around to score on Jose Tena double to tie the game 1-1. After a groundout advanced Tena to third, Johnathan Rodriguez hit a grounder up the middle that the Harrisburg reliever threw away, which allowed Tena to score and make it 2-1 Akron.
