Strikeout Sensations Continue In Spite of Somerset's Friday Night Loss

The Somerset Patriots fell by a score of 4-2 to the Reading Fightin' Phils on Friday night in the fourth of a six-game set at TD Bank Ballpark.

With 15 total strikeouts, Patriots pitching whiffed 10+ batters for the sixth straight game.

RHP Blane Abeyta (5.1 IP, 3 R, 8 H, 8 K, 0 BB) took the loss, striking out eight in his 13th start of the season.

Abeyta has struck out 8+ in five of his 15 appearances this season. Abeyta allowed no walks while striking out 8+ for the second time this season.

SS Trey Sweeney (1-for-4, HR) put Somerset on the board with a leadoff solo blast in the 1st inning.

Sweeney's 12 HR this season mark the third-most of any Patriot. After homering four times over his first 52 games of the season, Sweeney has now gone deep eight times over his last 21 games.

C Austin Wells (2-for-4) recorded his 13th multi-hit performance of the season. Wells is now 13-for-37 (.351) with a 1.081 OPS in nine games against Reading this season.

LF Jasson Dominguez (2-for-5, RBI) brought home the Patriots second run of the ballgame with an RBI single in the 9th inning, cutting Somerset's deficit to two runs.

The two-hit game marked the 14th multi-hit performance of the season for Dominguez, tied for most on the team.
