Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, CT- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats evened the series this week against the Hartford Yard Goats, prevailing 4-0 in front of a sell-out crowd at Dunkin' Park on Friday night. Fisher Cats starter Jimmy Robbins tossed 7.1 innings, allowing two hits while striking out seven in the process. Hartford right-hander Chris McMahon tied a season-high in strikeouts with seven in five solid innings of work. Hunter Goodman took sole possession of second place in the Eastern League in doubles with a rocket down the left field line in the seventh inning to break up Robbins' no-hit bid. Bladmir Restituyo amassed his 14th hit in just nine games against the Fisher Cats this season. He now has at least one hit in six out of his last eight contests.
New Hampshire took the early lead in the second inning. Second baseman Miguel Hiraldo hit his fifth home run of the season to propel the Fisher Cats to a one-run advantage. New Hampshire's offense added two more in the next frame. A two-out double by left-fielder Will Robertson scored Trevor Schwecke and Steward Berroa from first and second respectively.
McHahon allowed just one hit out of the final 10 batters he faced before exiting the game. In the seventh inning, the Fisher Cats scraped together another run. Sebastian Espino led the inning off with a double and was driven in two batters later by Trevor Schwecke's one-out double off the wall.
Out of the bullpen, Fineas Del Bonta-Smith, and Bryce McGowan kept the New Hampshire bats quiet in the final two innings. McGowan punched out two Fisher Cats en route to a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning. The Goats accumulated two hits in the ninth inning including Kyle Datres' single to lead off the frame. Datres has a hit in each game against New Hampshire during this campaign.
The Yard Goats and New Hampshire Fisher Cats play the fifth game of a six-game series on Saturday night (6:10 PM) at Dunkin' Park for Hartford Schoolboys Night with Fireworks After the Game. Nick Garcia toes the rubber for the Yard Goats coming off his second straight start in which he threw five or more innings. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
