Harrisburg Capitalizes Early, Beats Portland 3-2

Portland, Maine - The Harrisburg Senators (52-56) scored all three runs in the first 2 innings, and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (40-68), 3-2 Saturday night at Hadlock Field in front of a sellout crowd of 7,368 fans.

Danny Rosenbaum (0-3) walked a career-high six batters, suffering the loss for Portland. Harrisburg put two runs on the board in the first and one in the second off Rosenbaum.

The Sea Dogs struck for a run in the first inning off winning pitcher John Simms (1-1). With two outs, Sam Travis walked and scored on a double by Tim Roberson. In the fourth, Keury De La Cruz tripled and scored on a groundout by Luis Martinez.

Portland's bullpen worked six scoreless frames on just one hit. Mike Augliera retired all 12 batters and fanned four. Williams Jerez pitched 1.1 and John Cornely got two outs in the ninth.

Simms yielded two runs over 6 IP for Harrisburg and their bullpen tossed three scoreless. Paul Demny secured a hold with two innings of work and Erik Davis fired a perfect ninth for his third save of the year.

Portland and Harrisburg conclude their four-game series at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Luis Diaz (1-9, 5.21) makes his 21st start of the season for Portland. Lucas Giolito, the top prospect in the Washington Nationals system, makes the start for Harrisburg.
