Giants update - 6-3 loss to the Rangers. This was the first game in Arlington for San Francisco since they clinched the World Series in 2010.

SERIES AT A GLANCE: Richmond snapped the six-game skid with a 6-1 victory over Binghamton thanks to a long, unexpected bullpen performance in game two of this four-game installment. Starter Joe Biagini departed the game after just 21 pitches with back pain. The Richmond relievers went on to throw eight shutout innings. The Squirrels wasted no time and scored four runs in the first inning, which included a two-run single from Mitch Delfino. Austin Slater and Myles Schroder each contributed with three-hit games. In major contrast to game two, the offense and bullpen completely dissolved for the Squirrels as they fell 11-3 to the Mets in game one. Richmond's bullpen accounted for 10 of the 11 runs. The Squirrels archived just five hits in this game, despite the score being 3-3 after six innings. Binghamton racked up 18 hits, which is the most an opponent has compiled against the RVA in a game this season. In addition, eight of those hits were for extra bases (five doubles, three triples). This is the first time these two teams have played one another since their first collision at The Diamond mid May (5/11-5/13). Richmond took two of the three games and this included the finale they won thanks to a Mitch Delfino walk-off hit in the 10th inning. The Squirrels bullpen was impressive in this series with 12 scoreless innings scattered over the three contests. This is the second of three meetings between these two clubs during the regular season. They will face off again in mid August (8/18-8/20) in Binghamton, NY and this will be the second to last ballpark Richmond discovers in 2015 (@ Akron, 8/27-8/30). They also posted the best record in July (19-10) and the lowest ERA during the recent month as a pitching staff (2.18).

TURN THE PAGE: The Squirrels experienced a small set back and finished July with an even 15-15 record. They are currently six games back of Bowie after just being one game back from July 21-25. Richmond went 36-22 during May and June. However, it is still remarkable the way the team practically erased the 3-14 start back in April. Richmond dealt with widespread results in July. The club participated in four extra inning games within the first 10 games of the month and lost all of them. They compiled a six-game winning streak for the fourth time this season (7/19-7/24) and that was immediately followed by a six-game losing streak. The Squirrels were kept off the scoreboard for 23 innings during that losing streak at the end of the month. The RVA documented their shortest nine inning game in franchise history on July 29 (1 hour, 54 minutes) and also their longest nine inning game of season on July 30 (3 hours, 33 minutes). Austin Slater was one of the offensive juggernauts during this month. He led the club with an astonishing .337 average and recorded 11 multi-hit games (most of any player in July).

TAKE YOUR BASE: Ricky Oropesa has turned into a walking machine. The first baseman has earned at least one free pass in each of his last eight games. He walked three times in a game on July 26 for the first time this season. In total, he has 30 walks and 10 of them have come since July 24. Oropesa has more base on balls than hits from the span of July 18 until now (14 BB, 6 H).

STICK TO IT...CRICK: Kyle Crick showed recent signs of dramatic improvement over the course of the last week or so. He has not allowed a run in his previous five outings (one inning each). In addition, Crick has only issued three walks compared to nine strikeouts in these five innings. This is a right-hander who transitioned to the bullpen at the start of July and leads the Eastern League with 55 walks.

ICE THE ARMS: It has been a wild ride for the bullpen over the last few days and the starting pitching has played an unexpected role in this. RHP Joe Biagini exited Friday's game with apparent back pain after just 21 pitches. Jose Casilla was the first of the cavalry from the bullpen and he tossed a season high three scoreless innnings with four strikeouts (season high 58 pitches). Four more arms were called upon and delivered with a combine five shutout innings. Flashback to Thursday where Adalberto Mejia was scheduled to start, but was instead was placed on the disabled list (left shoulder). So, Edwin Quirarte was summoned to make a surprise start with late notice. He recorded a career high eight strikeouts and let up just one run, but could only last four innings. Quirarte worked on only two days rest after he threw 56 pitches in 2.2 innings on July 27, also the day he came of the disabled list. Meanwhile, the remainder of Thursday was left to the bullpen. The most earned runs allowed by a reliever in a game is four. Phil McCormick and Braulio Lara yielded four earned runs each in their respective outings. Richmond has now had five instances where a bullpen arm has issued four earned runs in an appearance this season and three of them have occured in the last four days. To recap, the bullpen surrendered 10 earned runs in five innings on Thursday and then turned around and did not allow a run in eight innings pitched on Friday.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa (7-7, 3.75)

Ynoa, 22, will make his 19th start for the Mets in 2015 and also his third career against the Squirrels. His first start against Richmond came on August 31, 2014 (7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K). The other outing was earlier this year on May 13 where he went seven innings again, allowed three hits, and one earned run. Ynoa has logged the most innings (115.1) among any Binghamton pitcher and this includes back-to-back complete games on June 27 and July 2. The right-hander signed with the Mets as a free agent in 2009. He spent the beginning of last season with St. Lucie (A+) before he earned a mid-season promotion to Binghamton. With St. Lucie, Ynoa went 8-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 14 starts (64 K, 13 BB). His control has translated over to this season as he has only 22 walks total. He was ranked #16 prospect by Baseball America after 2014 season.
