Harrisburg Senators News Release

Three runs in the first two innings was enough for the Harrisburg Senators in a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs Saturday night at Hadlock Field. The Senators (52-56) have won back-to-back games for the first time since July 16-18.

Harrisburg scored two in the first inning without an RBI as Wilmer Difo and Chris Bostick both walked before Cutter Dykstra singled to right. The throw to home plate from the outfield bounced away, allowing Difo to score. Bostick then crossed the plate when Shawn Pleffner grounded into a double play. The Senators also scored in the second inning when Reegie Corona walked and was driven in by a Derrick Robinson RBI double.

Portland scored a run off Senators' starter John Simms in the first inning, but left two on base. Simms allowed the Sea Dogs to load the bases with two outs in the second inning, but stranded all three runners by inducing a groundout to shortstop. Portland scored its second run in the fourth inning on a triple by Keury De La Cruz followed by an RBI groundout by Luis Martinez that made it a one-run game. Simms finished six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks. Simms, who earned his first win, stranded seven Portland runners.

In his first appearance with Harrisburg since July 1, Paul Demny started the seventh inning by allowing a leadoff double by Carlos Asuaje, who then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. However, Demny then struck out the next two batters to preserve the Senators lead. Demny also pitched a perfect eighth before giving way to Erik Davis, who earned his second save by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Senators finished with just three hits, including just one from the fourth inning on.

The Senators will try to win the series tomorrow with Lucas Giolito on the mound in a 1:00 p.m. start at Portland. The pregame show will begin at 12:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
