Happ Returns From Disabled List To Start Tonight

June 14, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release

OTTAWA - Lynx starter J.A. Happ has been activated from the Lynx disabled list in time to start tonight's game against Columbus. He was placed on the DL with an elbow injury May 30th.

Happ, 24, left his May 29th start after only 3.1 innings pitched and 47 pitches. He has a 1-2 record with a 4.09 ERA in 10 starts with the Lynx this season. Despite his two-week stint in the DL, Happ still leads the club in strikeouts. He is rated the 8th-best prospect in the Phillies Minor League system by Baseball America who also credit him with the best control and the best changeup among Phillies prospects. He was a Florida State League All-Star last season.

Happ and the Lynx face the Columbus Clippers tonight at Lynx Stadium. Columbus outfielder Brandon Watson is currently riding a 39-game hit streak, three games short of tying the International League record for the longest hit streak in a season. Jack Lelivelt set the record with his 42-game streak in 1912. If he keeps his streak intact, Watson would tie the record Saturday and break it Sunday afternoon at Lynx Stadium.

This is the first season the Lynx are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Lynx Box Office is Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm. Ticket information can be found at www.ottawalynx.com or by calling 613 747-LYNX (5969).
