Ottawa Lynx News Release
Columbus outfielder Brandon Watson extended his hit streak to 40 games as Columbus downed the Lynx 3-2. Watson is now only two games shy of tying the International League record for longest hit streak, 42 games, set in 1912 by Jack Lelivelt.
The loss drops the Lynx record to 27-35 while Columbus improves to 30-36.
Lynx Player Of The Day: Pedro Swann got on base four times (single, double, two walks) and scored one of the Lynx runs as they fell 3-2 to Columbus.
Game Recap: Columbus leadoff man Brandon Watson extended his hit streak to 40 games in the top of the first, doubling to left field. J.A. Happ, back from the disabled list, weathered an early storm and got out of that first inning unscathed. Ottawa opened the scoring in the bottom of the second when Pedro Swann led off with a double, moved to third base on Joey Hammond's fly ball and scored on Chris Roberson's RBI double. The Clippers took the lead with a pair in the top of the third but the Lynx came back to tie the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth when Gary Burnham clubbed his first home run of the season over the right field fence. Columbus would get the winning run in the top of the seventh to close the scoring and hang a 3-2 loss on the home Lynx.
Next Game: The Lynx and Clippers face off for the second game of this four-game set Friday night at Lynx Stadium (7:05 pm).
Probable Pitchers: Friday vs. Columbus, 1:05 pm: Ottawa RHP Bubba Nelson (1-1, 4.76) takes on Columbus RHP Jim Magrane (0-1, 6.30).
Fans can also venture up to the Upper Deck Sports Bar on the third floor of Lynx Stadium. The Upper Deck features nightly food specials and 30-cent chicken wings available after each Lynx home game!
