(BOWIE, MD) - The Fightin Phils kept it interesting on Tuesday night, placing the tying run at third with two outs in both the eighth and ninth innings before falling short at Bowie, 6-5 at Prince George's Stadium.

Darick Hall reached base in all five of his plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, RBI, and three walks.

The Fightins (24-18) (63-46) struck for a run in the top of the first inning against Zac Lowther, who entered with the second-lowest ERA in the Eastern League. Mickey Moniak stroked a one-out single to left, and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two down, Hall brought him home with a double right, picking up his league-leading 64th RBI.

Bowie (29-10) (59-48) brought it even in the bottom of the second. Yusniel Diaz opened the inning with a single to center off Jose Taveras, and with one out a single to right from Jesmuel Valentin put runners at the corners.

Valentin broke for second, and Henri Lartigue's throw carried into center allowing Diaz to score and knot the ballgame up at one.

The Baysox went ahead an inning later, after a double from Ryan Ripken and an infield single off the bat of Mason McCoy. Cedric Mullins followed with a sacrifice fly to left-center, putting Bowie ahead 2-1.

Reading retook the advantage in the fifth.

Jose Antequera started the rally with a double up the third base line. Luke Williams put down a sacrifice bunt, and Lowther airmailed first allowing Antequera to score, and Williams to take second. With one out, Alec Bohm and Hall both walked to load the bases, and Josh Stephen delivered a sacrifice fly to center to bump Reading back up, 3-2.

Bowie mounted another comeback in the sixth, when Mullins opened the frame with a walk and stole second. After advancing to third on a groundout, Mullins scored the tying run on Diaz's double to left-center. With two down Aaron Brown took over in relief and issued a walk to Valentin, before Ryan McKenna delivered a broken bat single to center to plate the go-ahead run.

Taveras (3-1) took the loss after permitting four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks across a season-long 5.2 innings in the start.

Bohm pulled Reading to within two in the seventh. With two down, Bohm blasted a solo shot high over the wall in left-center for his eighth Double-A homer, and 15th total, closing the gap to 6-4.

Reading pulled to within one in the eighth, after Jose Gomez led off with a single, and Lartigue walked with one out. An out later, Williams hit a grounder back of third which Rylan Bannon fielded and overthrew toward first, permitting Gomez to score and cut the deficit to 6-5.

The Fightins mounted one last attempt in the ninth, with Hall, Stephen, and Raul Rivas all reaching on singles to fill the bases. With two down, Cristian Alvarado struck out Lartigue to end the game and earn his fourth save.
