HARRISBURG, PA- It took a wise man to beat the Hartford Yard Goats Tuesday night. Rhett Wiseman's two-run homer in the second inning gave the Harrisburg Senators a lead they would never relinquish enroute to a 5-2 win, before 3,243 at FNB Field. It was the Yard Goats' season-high fifth straight loss and eighth defeat in 10 games against Harrisburg (18-19), the Western Division's first-half winner.

Hartford (15-23) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off of starter Kevin McGowan, on a single by Vance Vizcaino, a walk, double steal and an RBI-fielder's choice ground out by Mylz Jones. However, Wiseman pulled a two-run home run into the right-field seats off of Yard Goats starter Matt Dennis with two outs in the second inning, his team leading 13th home run of the year.

Down 5-1 in the eighth, the Yard Goats scored a run on an RBI-double by Nelson Molina. The Goats then loaded the bases against reliever Aaron Fletcher, before reliever Bryan Bonnell pitched out of the jam by striking out Chris Rabago.

Eastern League saves leader Aaron Barrott registered his 24th save, retiring Hartford in order in the ninth inning.

Hartford right-hander Dennis dropped to 2-2. He pitched six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out four. McGowan, who pitched for the New York Mets in 2017, picked up his first win for Harrisburg. He allowed one run on three hits, walked three and struck out two.

Molina's RBI-double topped the Hartford offense. Ian Sagdal's three hits, RBI and run scored topped Harrisburg. The Yard Goats stole five bases in the first three innings of the game.

Game two of the three-game series is tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. In a battle of right-handers Heath Holder will pitch for the Yard Goats against Jackson Tetreault for the Senators.
