Akron RubberDucks News Release

In a 2018 Eastern League championship rematch, the Akron RubberDucks could not get the timely hit against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, falling 2-1 Tuesday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

After surrendering the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh, the Fisher Cats pushed across the game-winning run on a Santiago Espinal safety squeeze play, scoring Logan Warmoth and giving New Hampshire the 2-1 lead.

Mound Presence

Akron RubberDucks starter Adam Scott cruised through the first four frames of his start, allowing only one hit until the Fisher Cats broke the scoreless tie with a Kevin Smith solo home run. Scott would work into the seventh inning, where he would be relieved by Jared Robinson. Though Robinson inherited a jam, he allowed one earned run on Santiago Espinal's safety squeeze play. Dalbert Siri came in after Robinson and pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks offense was held hitless until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Andruw Monasterio and Alex Call each found the outfield grass for singles. Despite loading the bases, the RubberDucks could not get the timely hit and left three men on base. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Alex Call hustled into second base with a double over the head of New Hampshire right fielder Brock Lundquist, and Alexis Pantoja followed up with a line drive right back up the middle to bring Call home and tie the score at 1-1.
