Hahn's Gem, DiNicola's Hitting Lead Y'alls Past Miners

Florence Y'alls News Release
MARION, IL - Kevin Hahn tossed eight innings of one-run baseball, and Harrison DiNicola drove in four runs to lead the charge in a 6-1 victory for Florence over Southern Illinois Saturday night at Rent One Park.
The win is Hahn's first of the season, the first of his professional career, and the fifth in a row for the Y'alls over the Miners to begin their matchups in 2021. Florence (12-4) remains in first place in the West Division, while the Miners (5-10) drop to six Â1/2 games back of first place.
DiNicola started his hot night in just the first inning for Florence, driving in two runs on a ball that did not leave the infield. A high chopper took forever to come down, and some nasty spin caused the ball to elude the infielder's glove. With two outs, Chad Sedio and Luis Pintor were moving on contact, allowing both to score easily on the funky infield hit.
DiNicola drove home another run in the sixth inning on a single after Sedio started the frame with a hit by pitch. At the time, that gave Florence a much-needed insurance run, making it a 3-1 ballgame. DiNicola added his fourth RBI an inning later on another single as part of a three-run inning for Florence. The three-run seventh gave the Y'alls a 6-1 lead, one they would ride out through the end of the game.
On the mound, Hahn struck out four batters and walked nobody, scattering six hits. He got help from some defensive plays during the game, including tagging out Ian Walters at home plate on a wild pitch when Walters tried to score from third in the second inning. Hahn also induced a 6-4-3 double play in the fourth with Pintor diving to his left and glove-flipping to second to start the twin killing.
Trevor Craport and Jordan Brower added runs batted in for Florence. The only run the Miners could muster came in the fourth inning on an RBI-single from Walters to drive home Luke Mangieri.
Trent Johnson takes the tough loss in his professional debut with the Miners, allowing the two runs in the first inning and nothing more after that. The big righty struck out three, walked one and surrendered four hits. After his rocky first inning, Johnson retired the Y'alls in order twice over his next four innings. The Miners needed five relievers to get through the game after Johnson's departure with most of the run-scoring damage going against Saul De La Cruz (one earned run in 1/3 inning) and Mitchell Walters (three runs, one earned in 1/3 inning).
Florence looks for the series sweep against the Miners tomorrow, Sunday, June 13, sending RHP Edgar Martinez to the mound. First pitch on getaway day is 5:05p CT / 6:05p ET.
