Hagerstown Suns News Release

On Saturday, June 30th the Hagerstown Suns will transform the field across from Bester Elementary School into a small carnival. The festival will take place at the corner of South Potomac Street and Memorial Blvd. It is part of the Suns season-long Strike Out Tobacco program and will include inflatable "rides", music, carnival games and great prizes. Hagerstown Suns players and the team mascot, Woolie, will be on-hand signing autographs. Free food and drinks will be provided.

The event will run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is completely free. Families will have the opportunity to enjoy a smoke free environment and learn about the dangers of tobacco use and the effects secondhand smoke. Anti-tobacco informational pamphlets will be available for parents and activity packets available for children.

"We hope that the festivals' location near downtown Hagerstown will allow families to walk to the event. Our goals are to inform the community of the dangers of smoking, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle at the same time," said Suns Assistant General Manager, C.J. Johnson.

The Suns will hold a raffle at the festival for tickets to the Suns home game on Saturday night against the Lakewood BlueClaws, which begins at 7:05 p.m.
