Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads split a doubleheader with Kannapolis Intimidators, Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Hickory won game one, 14-4, while Kannapolis came back to win game two, 11-5.

Game one was a resumption of Wednesday's game in Kannapolis that was suspended due to rain in the 3rd inning, with the score tied at 1-1.

Hickory picked up 5 runs in the opening 3rd inning on Thursday. The inning was highlighted by back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles by Jonel Pacheco, Jared Keel, and Francis Poni. The Intimidators picked up 3 runs in the bottom of the inning, to make it 6-4 Dads' after 4.

The Crawdads erased any chance of a meltdown with 5 more runs in the 4th. Pacheco hit a 2-run triple. He scored on a sac-fly from Keel. Albert LaBoy hit a 2-run HR to left, his 1st as a Crawdad. The homer gave the Dads' a commanding 11-4 advantage. Keel later belted a 3-run HR to left in the 6th, to put the Dads' up 14-4 for good. The 14 runs was a season-high for Hickory.

Derrick Moeves (2-1) worked 3.1 scoreless innings for the win. Intimidators starter Justin Edwards (5-5) suffered the loss.

In game two, the Dads' went up 3-0 with runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. Keel hit his 2nd HR of the double-dip (7th of the season). Stephen MacFarland looked sharp on the bump. He allowed just 1 unearned run and 1 hit in 3.1 IP in his first start as a Crawdad, but took a no-decision. Eventually the Dads' led the I's 5-2. Kannapolis scored 3 runs in the 6th off Olivo Astacio. With the Dads' short on arms, INF Jose J. De Los Santos came in to pitch the 8th. He allowed 6 runs, including a 3-run HR to center by Chris Carter, and was dealt the loss.

The Crawdads begin a 4-game series with the Asheville Tourists tomorrow night at 7:00 in Asheville. Mike Crotta is scheduled to start for Hickory tomorrow in Asheville.
