
Gnats Add Catcher, Send Mullens To DL

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Catcher Teddy Dziuba has been added to the Sand Gnats roster, the New York Mets announced Thursday. Dziuba (pronounced JOO-ba) replaces starting pitcher Greg Mullens who was placed on the team's disabled list with a right shoulder strain.
Dziuba joins Savannah from the Kingsport (Tenn.) Mets. Kingsport's season began on June19, and Dziuba has only played in two games with Kingsport this season. The Mets selected him in the 33rd round of the 2006 amateur draft out of Babson (Mass.) College.
Mullens' last start for Savannah was on June 14.
Dziuba will join the Gnats in Charleston for the two-game series with the RiverDogs that begins at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night. Savannah will return home on Saturday to begin a seven-game homestand with a 7 p.m. game against the Columbus Catfish.
