
'Birds Fall to BlueClaws, 2-1

Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
Salisbury, Md.- Lakewood starting pitcher Antonio Bastardo stifled Delmarva's line-up for six innings, allowing no runs and just three hits while striking out nine as the BlueClaws slipped by the âBirds 2-1 Thursday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
The loss spoiled an excellent start from Delmarva's Kyle Schmidt who went eight innings allowing only two runs on six hits and six strike outs. Quintin Berry's RBI triple scored Doug Morales in the third inning. Berry later scored on an RBI Adrian Cardenas single, which proved to be the game winner.
Delmarva scored its lone run on a double steal in the eighth as Andrews took second base and Danny Figueroa stole home with two outs.
This game marked the 13th one run game between the two teams (Delmarva has won seven) and the season series is now tied at 12-12. The two teams play the final game of the two game series Friday night at Perdue Stadium, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM. Delmarva will send Brad Bergesen (7-3, 2.40 ERA) to the hill and Lakewood goes with Carlos Monasterios (7-5, 5.29 ERA).
