Greenville Sweeps Legends

GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Drive rallied for a 6-5 win over Lexington on Thursday night at West End Field. The Drive sweep the four game series and sends the Legends to a 2-6 start in the second half.

Chad Wagler got the loss falling to 4-3. He allowed one run in a 1/3 of an inning. Joshua Papelbon got the win with a perfect 1 2/3 of work.

Greenville starter Daniel Bard was his own worst enemy in the first inning. A series of walks, passed balls, wild pitches and stolen bases staked the Legends to a 2-0 lead.

The Legends added a third run in the second. Jhon Florentino tripled and scored on Ralphie Henriquez' single to centerfield.

Greenville got on the board with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Argenis Diaz' single to centerfield scored Matt Sheely and Kris Negron. The Drive tied it at three with a solo home run to left field by Jon Still in the fifth.

Lexington regained the lead with two runs in sixth inning to take a 5-3 advantage. Greg Buchanan scored on a sacrifice fly by Koby Clemens. A bases-loaded walk to Jordan Parraz forced in Brandon Caipen.

Greenville came back to score two in the bottom half of the inning. Two singles and a throwing error by Jhon Florentino put runners in scoring position. Reid Engel's sacrifice fly scored Sheely.

Kris Negron scored on a controversial play. Lars Anderson grounded to second base slowly and was ruled safe on a close play first base, Negron scored. An error was given to Greg Buchanan and Legends Manager Gregg Langbehn was ejected for arguing.

Greenville won it with a run in the ninth inning. Jason Place walked and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Josh Reddick ripped a single to right field scoring Reddick.

The Legends move to Augusta for a four game series on Friday night. Casey Hudspeth gets the nod for the Legends while the GreenJackets will start lefty Clayton Tanner. First pitch is set for 7:05pm, Legends network coverage starts at 6:50pm.
