
Guthrie's two home runs gets series win against Tides

(Allentown, PA) - Dalton Guthrie turned in another big game at the plate on Sunday afternoon as he went 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-32) to a 10-4 win over the Norfolk Tides (34-38).
However, the Tides jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Ricardo Sanchez in the top of the first inning as he hit a two-run home run that scored Jordan Westburg. Norfolk scored two more runs against Sanchez in the top of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Beau Taylor scored on a groundout by Dylan Harris and Terrin Vavra hit an RBI single that scored Davis Taverez.
Donny Sands in his return to the IronPigs hit a two-run single against DL Hall (1-3) in the bottom of the third inning that cut Norfolk's lead to 4-2. The 'Pigs broke open the game with seven runs against Hall and Cameron Bishop in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-4 lead. Guthrie hit a two-run home run that scored Scott Kingery. Darick Hall hit an RBI double that scored Drew Maggi and Dustin Peterson hit a three-run home run that scored Sands and Hall.
Guthrie homered again in the bottom of the seventh inning, against Ryan Conroy that extended Lehigh Valley's lead to 10-4. Guthrie now has four home runs on the season.
Zach Warren, Jake Newberry, Michael Kelly, and Tyler Cyr all pitched scoreless innings of relief to finish out the game.
The IronPigs will begin a six-game series with the Syracuse Mets starting on Tuesday evening in Syracuse. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
