June 26, 2022 - International League (IL)
Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Red Wings bested the Mets on Sunday afternoon at Frontier Field by a score of 2-1. With the win, the Wings have secured the series split.

RHP Logan Verrett toed the rubber first and logged his third quality start of the season, giving up a pair of hits and just one run through seven innings.

The Mets jumped to an early 1-0 lead, but Rochester tied it up quickly thanks to an RBI single from RF Josh Palacios that scored LF Andrew Stevenson. Two scoreless innings followed, but the Wings tallied another run in the fourth on a balk from Mets LHP Matt Szapucki. 2B Jake Noll logged the run. Noll also registered two hits on the day, one of which was a double, as his hit streak jumps to seven games. The double was Noll's 20th of the year, good for a first-place tie with fellow Wing Andrew Stevenson in the IL.

The Wings stole a pair of bags in the low scoring game, with Stevenson logging his 20th of the year, and Palacios logging his fifth in the last seven games.

A sixth-inning fly ball from Mets 1B Mark Vientos was originally ruled a homer but was changed to a foul ball following a meeting from the umpires. Mets manager Kevin Boles and Vientos were ejected after disagreeing with the call.

RHP Tyler Clippard got the call in the eighth and kept the Mets in check before RHP Jordan Weems took over in the ninth and closed it out. Weems' late game poise resulted in his 11th save of the season. Wings pitchers allowed just three combined hits all game, tied for the third fewest hits allowed this season.

Rochester now owns a 15-7 record in one run games this season, and Sunday's win moves their season series record to 6-4-2.

The Wings will enjoy a day off on Monday before a homestead against the Worcester Woo Sox begins at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
