Bakersfield Condors News Release
San Diego, Calif. - NHL forward Curtis Brown recorded a goal and an assist to lead the San Diego Gulls to a 3-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors at the Sports Arena on Wednesday. The Condors went 1-2-2 on their five game road trip.
Bakersfield took the lead in the opening minute of play when Todd Alexander rifled home his ninth of the campaign just 22 second in. The lead wouldn't last. With Alexander in the box three minutes later the Gulls tied the game on a Sylvain Deschatelets goal. While the Condors were on the power play 34 seconds later NHL winger Curtis Brown picked off a pass and scored on his shorthanded breakaway.
San Diego extended the lead late in the second period when Sean O'Connor netted his 15th of the season. The Condors outshot San Diego 11-4 in the period. Kevin St. Jacques netted his third shorthanded goal of the season less than two minutes into the third to pull within a goal. The Condors pounded the Gulls net with 15 shots in the third but the equalizer never came. The Condors failed to gain ground on idle Long Beach, who holds a two point lead over the Bakersfield for first place in the West Division.
The Condors return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. After that game, fans will be treated to a live concert from international recording artists Hawk Nelson, presented by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style. Hawk Nelson will perform inside Centennial Garden, free to everyone in attendance at the game.
