Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Vlad Serov's third goal of the game just 44 seconds into overtime capped a four- goal comeback and gave the Bakersfield Condors a 5- 4 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs in front of 5,850 fans at the Rabobank Arena on Saturday Nights. The Condors took sole possession of first place in the West Division with the win.

Long Beach exploded out of the gates, pelting Yutaka Fukufuji with 23 first period shots and lighting the lamp four times. Marco Rosa led the way with a pair of goals and Long Beach also scored on two of the three power plays they had in the opening 20 minutes.

With Randy Petruk replacing Fukufuji between the pipes to start the second, Bakersfield turned it around. Paul Rosebush scored for the second straight night to get the Condors on the board. Later, a spearing major against NHL veteran Bill Lindsay gave the Condors a five minute power play. Vlad Serov and Todd Alexander tallied on the advantage before the end of the period to make it a one-goal game through 40 minutes.

Late in the third period the Condors finally got the equalizer. Serov took a brilliant feed from Brad Mehalko, who was behind the net, and chipped it upstairs for his second of the game at 15:50 to send it into overtime. A slashing penalty against Joe Cardarelli in the extra stanza put the Condors on the power play. Serov waltzed into the bottom of the right circle and found the back of the net with a wrist shot.

The Condors wrap up their three-game homestand on Thursday night when the Wheeling Nailers come to town for a 7:00 p.m. start at the Rabobank Arena.
