Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris has been named Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week. Grumet-Morris, 25, turned aside 28 shots in a 3-2 win over Dayton on Wednesday (Feb. 13) and stopped 48 shots in a 5-1 triumph at Elmira on Saturday (Feb. 16). The triumphs helped Cincinnati extend its winning streak to a club-record twelve games.
Grumet-Morris, a native of Evanston, Illinois, ranks second in the ECHL with 20 wins and has an 18-1-1 record in his last 20 decisions since Nov. 10. Dov was recalled by the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) this morning and is expected in the lineup for the team in their game tonight against Quad City. Grumet-Morris is part of the Nashville Predators (NHL) system.
It marks only the fourth time in the history of this club in Cincinnati that a Cyclones goalie has won the award. Cedrick Desjardins was the most recent winner of the award capturing it during the opening week last season, after posting a shutout in his pro debut. Greg Hewitt won the award from Dec. 2-8, 2002. The other winner was Steve Briere, Oct. 15-21, 2001.
The Cincinnati Cyclones play host to three games this week at U.S. Bank Arena. Thursday (Feb. 21), Dayton is in for a tilt, while Friday (Feb. 22), Johnstown is in and Saturday (Feb. 23), Elmira provides the opposition. All three games start at 7:30pm. Tickets for all Cyclones games can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at ticketmaster.com.
