Grubauer Records First Shutout in 1-0 Victory Over Walleye

North Charleston, SC - Goaltender Philipp Grubauer (W, 26 saves on 26 shots) registered his first professional shutout as the South Carolina Stingrays (7-3-0-0) defeated the Toledo Walleye (1-5-0-0) 1-0 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night.

Stingrays defenseman Zach Tarkir buried the game-winning goal at 11:33 of the second period lifting a shot over the left shoulder of Walleye goaltender Thomas McCollum (L, 34 saves on 35 shots) from the bottom of the right-wing circle. Forward Anthony Maiani grabbed the only assist. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play while the Walleye went 0-for-4. The Stingrays wrap up a three-game in three-night weekend tomorrow, Sunday, November 6 with Hometown Heroes and Kid's Day at the North Charleston Coliseum! Stingrays alumni from throughout the team's 19-year history will battle the Charleston Fire Department at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $15 with $5 going to the Coach Mulkey Scholarship Fund and includes entrance into the Stingrays game that afternoon. For Stingrays season ticket holders, tickets are $5. Later that day, the Stingrays square off against the Reading Royals at 4:00 p.m. for Kid's Day! All kid's tickets are $5! Sunday's are also Snow Days presented by Yard Icing. Arrive early to play in real snow outside the Coliseum!
