Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (32-29-3-3) won their third straight game on Friday night in a 1-0 masterpiece against the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (22-29-11-5). Jason Bacashihua earned his third shutout of the season making 27 saves and Dylan Gyori scored the game's only goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

Utah outshot the Ducks 35-27 but both goaltenders were outstanding. Ilja Bryzgalov made 34 saves in the losing effort seeing his record fall to 9-20-7. Bryzgalov stopped 26 shots through two periods but the Grizzlies nine shots in the third period proved to be the undoing as Gyori scored at the 17:19 mark of the period assisted by Barrett Heisten and Steve Gainey. Bacashihua saw the most action in the third period stopping a shorthanded breakaway and a power play effort by Dale Clarke. The rookie netminder finished the third period with 14 saves.

The Grizzlies received the benefit of the calls as far as the officiating as they were awarded seven power play chances and Cincinnati was awarded four. Neither team capitalized with the man-advantage.

The victory improved Utah's home record to 20-11-0-2 and with a loss tonight by Milwaukee, the Grizzlies passed the Admirals in the standings taking over the seventh spot overall in the Western Conference standings.

The two clubs will go at it tomorrow night once again in the final game of the season series. Cincinnati continues to lead two games to one.
