Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Lexington, KY -- The Cincinnati Cyclones snapped a six-game road losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Lexington Men O' War on Friday at Rupp Arena.
The win, coupled with Johsntown's loss to Atlantic City, lowered the Cyclones magic number to 8 points to officially clinch a post-season berth.
Cincinnati grabbed a 1-0 lead on a first period goal from Jason Norrie, who notched his first goal as a Cyclone and his 21st of the season.
In the second period, Cincinnati extended their lead to 2-0 when Paul Strand redirected his second goal of the season at 14:11.
Following a goal from Joe Cardarelli to make it 3-0 early in the third period, the Men O' War broke the shutout bid of Yutaka Fukufuji with a two-man advantage goal with just 1:57 left in regulation. Fukufuji left the team immediately after the game to return to his native Japan to rejoin the Japanese National Team.
The Cyclones play at Dayton on Sunday at 6:00 PM.
