The Fresno Grizzlies won a back and forth game as they snapped a 6-6 tie in the ninth with a four-run inning to defeat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 10-7 on Sunday afternoon at Security Service Field in front of 4,513 fans.

With the game tied at six all heading into the ninth, the first two Grizzlies reached against reliever Andrew Johnston as Jesus Guzman doubled and Ryan Rohlinger was hit by a pitch. Pinch-hitter Tony Pena Jr. sacrificed the runners to second and third and Johnston intentionally walked Tyler Graham to load the bases with one out. Johnston got Steve Holm to pop up into an infield fly for the second out before he was replaced by lefty reliever Scott Rice. Rice then proceeded to walk Ben Copeland to force in the go-ahead run and gave up back-to-back singles to Emmanuel Burriss and Eugenio Velez to push the score to 10-6.

Before the ninth inning explosion, the two teams battled back and forth multiple times. The Grizzlies had leads of 1-0, 4-2, 4-3 and 5-3 and the Sox had leads of 2-1 and 6-5 while both teams were tied at 1-1, 4-4 and 6-6.

Joe Paterson (4-3) picked up the win in relief and Johnston (3-3) took the loss.

Game three of the four-game series is set for tomorrow night at 6:05 PM with the Sox' LH Greg Smith (1-5, 7.30) taking on LH Matt Yourking (6-7, 3.86).
